This project consisted of retrofitting a lower level existing parking deck into a 20,665 square-foot state-of-the art “child friendly” pediatric emergency facility. Totaling more than $19 million, this new ER, part of the Brenner Children’s Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, includes 18 examination rooms, four larger treatment rooms, two trauma rooms and a diagnostic suite. The entire department is decorated with inviting colors and child-oriented pictures to make the hospital less intimidating for children.

WBI’s scope of work included the Site Work and Concrete. Our Site Work package included all the site utilities, grading, road demolition and reconstruction; and our Turnkey Concrete package included installing structural foundations, columns, slab-on-ground, shored structural slab, new elevated topping slab, sidewalks, concrete paving, striping and signage. The project started in early March 2010 and was completed in the late summer of 2010.
