Civil 3D CAD Technician (Civil & Infrastructure)

The 3D CAD Technician must work safely and productively in an office setting and on various sized Civil and Infrastructure project sites. A successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated and willing to complete any task assigned, along with performing the essential duties of the 3D CAD Technician position. All employees are expected to communicate, build relationships with other team members and use good judgment at all times. The 3D CAD Technician is expected to have the ability to perform all duties of the positions preceding it in its specific career path, while being responsible and accountable to complete any other tasks assigned.

  • Intermediate level Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Detail Orientation (Ability to pay attention to details in order to follow instructions and execute work in accordance to specifications and safety / quality standards)

Duties

  • Communicate with field personnel collecting as-built data and incorporate collected data into ongoing as-built model
  • Communicate with Virtual Design Manager to establish model “substantial completion” deadlines
  • Create accurate models from contract documents and incorporate available reference models / drawings to assist with modeling and issue discovery
  • Generate accurate QTO reports
  • Generate various output file formats (.dwg, .pdf, .ifc, etc.) from model as needed
  • Identify and report conflicts, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner
  • Incorporate pertinent object level data / details as governed by Wayne Brothers VDC Group Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintain models to incorporate changes in the contract documents, construction methods, sequence, etc.
  • Maintain record of time spent on each project and cost code modeling time accordingly
  • Publish models ready for construction to field GPS machine control computers and rovers
  • Publish models ready for review / construction to applicable model viewing tools
  • Utilize clash detection methods and/or visual inspection to ensure model accuracy and completeness before and after publication
